Regular attendance at school is crucial for the achievement of successful student outcomes. To this effect, B´ÎÔª has Attendance Policies for the E.L.C., Primary and Secondary Schools. In the Senior Secondary School in particular, the V.C.A.A. also has attendance requirements for VCE, VET and VCAL students, which are stipulated in the policy.
In addition, new state government laws compel all persons under the age of 17 in the State to attend school for 200 days per year. Parent/guardians of a student under the age of 17 are required by law to ensure school age children attend school as required.
Short Term AbsencesÂ
If your child is sick or absent, you are required to notify their school as soon as possible on the day of absence using one of the following methods:
Only Parents and Legal Caregivers are authorised to log absences. Absences made by any other person will not be approved.
Long Term Absences – For absences over 1 week long
Notifying the school of your child’s absence either prior to, or on the day that they will be away, helps ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and will fulfil your legal responsibility.
Our school Sick Bay is staffed by a qualified Nurse and First Aid Attendants and is provided by the school during school hours. It is available so that immediate attention to illness or injury is available to students at all times.
First aid medical supplies are only issued for injuries/incidents that occur at school on or school business. Any student requiring strapping tape etc must also provide their own supplies.
Sickbay is for short term assistance and acts as a first-aid station only. It is best for your child to remain at home if they are unwell in the morning. However, should they become ill at school they will be attended to by a First Aid attendant. If it is considered necessary for the child to be sent home, parents/caregivers will be contacted. Parents/caregivers are asked to collect their children promptly. If parents/caregivers are not contactable the Emergency contact person will be called. Please make sure that your student contact details are up to date. These can be updated via Compass School Manager. Students are NOT PERMITTEDÌý³Ù´ÇÌýRING/TEXT their parents/caregivers themselves OR leave the school without permission.
MEDICATION
If your child requires regular medication to be administered during school hours, parents/caregivers need to send the medication to school, clearly labelled, and it must be accompanied by a completed EPIC_Medication_Authority_Form
Please be aware the school does not keep a supply of painkillers (Panadol or other medication) for student use.
MEDICAL CONDITIONS
A treatment action plan must be supplied for students with Asthma or any other illness that may require first aid assistance at school. In particular, medical conditions like Epilepsy, Haemophilia, Diabetes, Anaphylaxis or severe Allergic reactions. Student_Health_Support_Plan
Each student who is at risk of anaphylaxis is required to have a management plan that has been developed in consultation with the parents/caregivers and medical practitioner. The student must also supply their own Epipen/Anapen to be stored in the Sick Bay. EPIC_Anaphylaxis_Individual_Management_Plan
If your child has Asthma, please make sure they carry a puffer on them. You are now able to access Ventolin/Asmol over the counter at any pharmacy. EPIC_Asthma_Individual_Management_Plan
It is your responsibility to make sure the school is up to date on your child’s medical information.
ADMINISTRATION OF FIRST AID POLICY
This policy sets out the requirements for schools to identify and manage risks that might affect their students, staff or operations. Managing risk means considering the effect of uncertainty (whether positive or negative) on school objectives.
Managing risk involves:
PHOTOGRAPHING FILMING & RECORDING STUDENTS POLICY
The purpose of this policy is to create an effective student engagement policy which we develop and maintain safe, supportive school environment.
Our students at B´ÎÔª have a range of transport options available to them.
BUSES
Please see the Bus Service under the Enrolment Tab for booking the bus service. EPIC students that use the bus service are reminded that when travelling to and from the college, they have important responsibilities to make sure they do so safely. The bus driver is in charge of the safety of the bus and all students must remain seated at all times and wear a seat belt.
PEDESTRIAN & BIKE RIDING SAFETY
All EPIC students are reminded that when travelling to and from the college, they have important responsibilities to make sure they do so safely.
For students riding bikes to/from school, they must be wearing a helmet for their safety and to meet Victorian law. This law applies on all roads, bike paths and bike lanes. Police can stop bike riders and issue a fine or warning for anyone not wearing a bike helmet.
Students are also reminded that they are to use the crossings located on Tyler Street when crossing the road. When crossing the road, road rules state that pedestrians must cross at a pedestrian crossing if there is one within 20 metres and must not cause a traffic hazard by moving into the path of drivers. Rules also state pedestrians must be crossing the road as quickly and directly as possible.
A further reminder to parents and caregivers that cars are permitted to enter the car parking area for drop off or pick up. Parents and caregivers can drop off or pick up students by parking on either Tyler Street. This is to ensure the safety of all students at the start and end of the school day.
Thank you for your support in ensuring all of our members of the college community are safe and respectful of our road rules and laws.
Further information on Victorian road rules and laws for pedestrians and bike riders can be found at

STUDENT CARS
Students with a valid license who drive to school are not allowed to park their car within the school grounds. Student cars must be parked legally on the road outside the school. Consequently, students are not permitted to go to their car during the school day. To protect the safety and welfare of yourself and all students, students must adhere to road rules and drive in a safe and responsible manner. Students are also not permitted to transport other students to and from any school program or function.
B´ÎÔª has a compulsory uniform policy for all students Years F-12.
The College also has a compulsory sports uniform, which must only be worn during sporting activities.
Our mission is to provide a positive
